When choosing someone to write an article or interview someone, it makes sense to go with someone who loves people. When looking to showcase artists, it makes sense to choose someone who knows what it’s like to be an artist, and is aware of the systems of oppression that all art is created within.

I have worked as a performer, director, choreographer and producer in theatre and dance across Canada and I regularly write for The Dance Current, Canada’s dance magazine. I also recently wrote the Activist Report, and a music review, for an upcoming issue of Shameless, a feminist magazine for teens. In addition to my work as an artist and writer, I am currently finishing my degree in Gender Studies and Applied Ethics at the University of Victoria.

Because of my unique history, I am able to bring a uncommon approach to my writing; I am passionate about community building and telling stories that unite people. I see art as activism and writing as an important piece of that activism; I believe representation matters and I aim to use my privilege and any platforms I am given to challenge commonly held beliefs, question the usual way of doing things, and shatter expectations.
